About Tina
Tina Azarvand, Founder and Managing Partner of Azarvand Tax Law, is a nationally recognized tax attorney committed to transforming tax law services through client-focused representation and transparent pricing. She represents businesses and individuals navigating complex federal, state, territorial, and international tax matters.
Since 2023, Tina has earned recognition each year on the Super Lawyers: Rising Stars list in Maryland, an honor bestowed upon only 2.5% of attorneys in each state. She has also been recognized on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list in Maryland since 2023, and her dedication to community service was honored with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) Young Volunteer of the Year Award in 2022. In 2025, she was also named a finalist for the Saipan Chamber of Commerce's Business Person of the Year, one of four finalists selected from Saipan's broader business community.
In 2024, Tina secured one of the most significant tax abatements in CNMI history, obtaining Qualifying Certificate approval for a proposed venture, granting a 100% abatement of income tax and business gross revenue tax for twenty-two (22) years. In 2025, CNMI Governor David M. Apatang separately appointed Tina to the Commonwealth Economic Incentive Authority (CEIA) Board of Directors, representing the private sector; she was subsequently elected Vice Chair, a role she continues to serve today. The CEIA works to promote the CNMI's economic incentive districts internationally and advance economic development and diversification across the CNMI.
Tina also serves as Salon Today's Resident Tax Attorney, providing accessible tax guidance to beauty business owners nationwide, and writes "Tina's Tax Corner" for Marianas Press, addressing tax issues for readers residing throughout the U.S. Pacific.
Tina is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, allowing her to represent taxpayers worldwide before the IRS regardless of their location. Depending on the jurisdiction, she is also able to assist with local and territorial tax matters where permitted under local practice rules. She holds both a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Driven by a genuine commitment to making sophisticated tax representation more accessible, Tina founded Azarvand Tax Law with a strong emphasis on transparent pricing and building lasting client relationships based on trust and results. Before establishing her own firm, she worked as a Tax Attorney at a tax law firm and a Tax Manager at an accounting firm, where she assisted businesses and individuals with a variety of IRS and local tax matters.
During law school, Tina spearheaded the formation of Maryland's first Student Tax Committee as her law school's representative on the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Student Advisory Council, where she focused on addressing state tax issues affecting Maryland students in collaboration with the necessary government parties. She also served separate one-year terms as the sole American Bar Association (ABA) Representative and Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) Representative for her law school.
Tina gained extensive practical tax experience through multiple clinical and professional roles as a law student. Tina worked as a Student Attorney at the University of Baltimore Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, worked as a Law Clerk at a tax law firm, interned at the MVLS Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, and provided tax preparation services to low-income taxpayers as a VITA-certified IRS preparer.
